"The author will co-exec produce the series along with Management 360's Guymon Casady and Created By's Vince Gerardis."

I copied this from the article, so GRRM will be involved. I'm looking forward to this!

you didn't think that rome was excessively dramatic and cheezy....granted some of the acting is superb...but the overall show is a poor product IMHO

Yes, it was a bit dramatic and cheesy. I imagine they were mimicking Shakespeare a bit, who was always overly dramatic. I disagree that it is a "poor product" but to each his own. However just because he worked on Rome doesn't mean it will be a clone of it. Look at Joss Whedon: Firefly and Buffy were completely different shows.

I guess I love Rome for the production value, not the story line. I love the colors, which are very historically accurate, and the attention to detail about fashion and food and the culture.

The storyline has always been a bit predictable, I agree. I think like many productions who tell the stories of Rome, Caesar, Octavius/Augustus it is hard for writers to pick a perspective and in some cases they rely on pagentry and gratuitous. sensational, soap opera-esque dialogue to hold it all together.

Rome reminds me of the scifi channel dune...the music look and all else, Iguess that's what turned me off, I only saw the first season till verilious (sp) wife tells him that the kid is not his.....so I kinda gave up....

Also, some of the sex scenes are uncecessary....

Man, I loved sci-fi's Dune too. The sex scenes in Rome were no big deal. I think they used it to portray the Romans idea of nudity/sex not being a big deal unlike we look at it today as taboo. We are getting off topic a bit though. I've only been in this tribe a few months, so maybe you've already done this: if money was not an object who would you cast in this show (main ones at least since there are so many)?

Sandor Clegane (the Hound): Michael Wincott
              Eddard Stark: Alan Rickman
              Robert Barratheon: John Rhy-Davies

Ok, right now I'm drawing a blank on anybody else. I'll check back later.

Hmm...good question. I never get tired of thinking about this sort of thing....

                Cersei: Nicole Kidman
Jaime: Brad pitt..? (not too much of a resemblance to each other, but they seem good to me. Hell. Plug them into that 'celebrity face match page, and see if they have anything in common)
What about Sean connery as Mormont, or Selmy? Not athletic enough for Selmy, perhaps.
Caitlin: Famke Jennsen might be a little too wiry to play Caitlin, but we've seen that she makes a good redhead.I don't know about her and Neeson together, though.
Willas: hmm....Heath Ledger? Or maybe some of those other 'pretty boys' in that surfer movie he was in.

Jeremy Irons should also be in there. He's a gread choice for someone--I just can't think who.
I also think Liam Neeson would be a great choice for Ned. He's always playing a fatherly figure, and he can make you really attached to him in a short time. Good, noble appearance and presence too. Rys-davies sounds like he'd be a lot of fun as Robert. Big, blustery, and uncouth. He could do it.

Hmm..that's all I have for now...

What about Ed Harris for Tywin Lannister? And that guy, um, Gerry Butler from the 300--he would make a good Sandor or Jorah.

For the women...If Camryn Manheim were a bit younger and more athletic she would make a kickass Brienne. For Jaime, I would have to go with Brad Pitt on that score as well. Cersei is a tough one. Kidman is good thought, but not sexual enough. I always find her too icy. But I like Neeson as Eddard and Connery as Selmy (a bit too old tho')

Brad Pitt's way too old to play Jaime. I'm thinking possibly Orlando Bloom (watching LOTR right now), but even he might be a bit too old at this point.

Jaime's not that young....If Cersei's his twin and she's got three kids, the oldest of which is what, 14 or so at the first book? That means he's got to be in his 30's. I'll agree that Brad Pitt's pushing it, (and entirely wrong in my opinion) but unless we're doing a lot of flashbacks to King's Landing and Jaime sitting on the throne when he's like, 17.....we're not necessarily looking for young 20's here.

And Orlando Bloom might have been able to pull of blond as an elf, but as a normal human, I'm thinking not...

                    What about...

                    Cersei - Rebecca Romijin
                    Jamie - Gabriel Garko
                    Eddard - Kevin Costner
                    Catelyn - Brandi Williams (ultimatepokerchallenge)
                    Sansa - Jodelle Ferland
                    Oberyn Martell - Antonio Banderas
                    Daenerys - Jessica Alba
                    Robb Stark - Colin Farrell
                    Jaquen - Brad Pitt
                    Viserys - Orlando Bloom
                    Jorah - Michael Ironside
                    Euron - Jack Wagner
                    Theon - Kevin Bacon

Kevin Bacon seems a bit old for Theon. I like Kevin Costner in some of his stuff, but don't see him in Fire & Ice. Also, not sure Jessica could pull off Daenarys (sure she's hot but she's only an average actress IMHO). The rest look good though.

    Caitlin- Kate Winslett
Gregor- Big Show (I know, but it's not like he has to act, just beat people up)
    Sandor- Viggo Mortenson

I'm most worried about the casting of the children since they are such integral characters.

I just wanna let you guys know that Martin will be involved with the creative process.
I can't wait to see the Battle at King's Landing. It's gonna be sick.
For Catelyn, I would like to see Kelly Macdonald.
(don't know how to post urls, but here's her IMDB site) www.imdb.com/name/nm0531808/
For Ned, I'd like to see Jim Caviezel
and for Tyrion I'd like to see Peter Dinklage. He's the only person I can see in the role.
For the children, it's gonna have to be The Chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter all over again, with unknowns in the parts.
